Long Computer Gaming Sessions - Tips to Carry On and On

By Marese Langan

Staying up all night and continuing to play for long hours on end is something that a gaming fanatic should get used to. However, it's not always that easy. While you may want to play and win your game, your body and mind may have some other ideas. This means that you may just feel too drowsy too continue or find it too difficult to concentrate. There are, however, a few things that you can do to have a successful long gaming session and make very few mistakes.

The first thing that you can do is have a lot of carbohydrates and proteins on the day of the big game. This helps in two ways. Firstly, it gives you enough energy to carry on for a longer time and secondly, it makes sure that you don't feel too hungry during the session. While eating may be fine, don't overdo it. If you overeat, you will begin to feel drowsy way too soon and you will also find it difficult to concentrate.

Have a big breakfast but let the lunch be lighter and the dinner be even lighter. A cup of tea, herbal tea and a piece of candy will be helpful during the short breaks that you may get during the gaming sessions. However, avoid overdoing the caffeine or you may crash out as soon as the effect wears off and it may actually interfere with your concentration rather than improve it.

For frequent gaming sessions, you should consider taking a daily multi-vitamin supplement so that you get enough energy for your sessions. Pick good supplements for a healthy eyesight that contains vitamin A, B complex, C, D, and E, all of which are potent antioxidants.

You should also consider taking fish oil in liquid or capsule form for your gaming sessions. These contain omega-3 fatty acids. These essential fatty acids are very good for your eyesight and also for the health of your other organs.

Your body and mind will keep telling you to call it off and take a nap. While it is true that sleep would do you good and make you a better performer, the fact is that people can actually stay awake for as long as eleven days. So, don't let your mind trick you into falling asleep.

To stay awake, make sure that you use bright lights. Keep splashing cold water onto your face and eyes so that you do not fall asleep during your marathon gaming session.
