A Total Review of the Apple iPad2

By Cam Stedson

The Apple iPad 2 is the latest tablet device--it's built upon the first iPad that Apple launched a couple of years ago. Although the iPad was incredibly well received and reached a high level of popularity, there were also a lot of criticisms of the product and Apple hopes that it has taken care of them with its latest offering. Keep reading to learn a few things about the iPad 2 so that you can figure out whether or not you'd like to buy it.

If you have ever made use of the Iphone, you know how many apps it offers! (like mobile phone tracking). The Ipad tablet isn't any different in this respect.

Because there may not always be a plug-in readily available, battery life is a serious issue in any kind of portable device. One of the nice things about owning something like an iPad that has a good battery is you don't have to worry about plugging it in if you don't feel like it. Even with all that you can do on the the original iPad, it still offers an very impressive 10 hours of battery life. Some tests show that the iPad2 has a bit of a longer battery life, even with the additional RAM and added features like the camera. If you want to watch a few videos without having to plug it in or are taking your iPad on a long plane ride, this is extremely convenient.

The iPad 2 has an HD camera both on the front and on the back so you can see the face of your friend with the front facing camera and use the back facing camera to take pictures of your location if you like. The iPad photo booth app is great for taking pictures of yourself and/or your friends. You can use FaceTime on your Mac or on your iPhone so don't buy the iPad just to have access to it. The iPad 2 has 512 MB of RAM--twice that of the original tablet. Web browsing, then, is easier because the pages and images load faster. For most of the daily functions of your tablet you won't notice the difference in RAM but when you play games or use RAM heavy apps, the improvement is significant. Watching and editing videos, going through photos, etc will use up lots of memory so having twice as much as you did before is a major difference in the power of the device. Of course, if you already own an iPad, this may not be reason enough for you to upgrade to an iPad 2, but it makes this model more appealing for first time buyers.

You might feel like the Apple iPad 2 offers you everything when you read the list of features, but that isn't exactly the case. Apple still hasn't included Flash support in its iPad2 and many users find that disappointing. Not including Flash, while perhaps not a major issue, does create limitations for viewing websites based on Flash. There's also no SD card slot on the iPad, which makes it harder to import photos from a digital camera. You can still do it, but you'll need an adapter rather than being able to insert an SD card, which is more You also can't add extra storage, so you have to make sure you buy a iPad that's going to meet your long term needs in this area. The innovative first iPad and the Apple iPad 2 aren't radically different from each other, although there have been some improvements in the Apple iPad 2.

The Apple iPad 2 is a great piece of technology with a lot of appeal; it's easy to decide that you want one when you see advertisements for it or when you see someone else using one. Of course, it is also something you can probably live without especially if you already own a smart phone or a notebook computer. The crux of whether or not you should buy an Apple iPad 2 lies in just how much value you place on its convenience, entertainment and sleek design features.
