IT Support Performance Software Crashes Guides And Troubleshooting

By Floyd Grant

IT support and fixing problems that are computer related is a broad area of expertise. For the home user there are many ways that this line of work assists in bringing about better performance to your home computer or laptop. As time marches on we accumulate many extra files and programs that reside on the hard disk.

They can usually be found under Help and Support but then again you have to know what you are doing before you attempt to solve or troubleshoot a problem you are having. Troubleshoot is just another word for solving a problem or an IT problem. IT is a term which stands for Information Technology and you will see this abbreviation used quite often.

Most systems have a disk defragmenter option enabled on the system. What this nifty piece of software does is it rearranges the files in a way that is more accessible to finding them when needed. What happens is that when you work with files whether they be mp3 files, doc files or any files for that matter, the central processing unit has to look for them.

If they are spread in far to reach places this takes more time. What defragmenting does is that it compacts the files and rearranges them in a more accessible way. This speeds up search time and hence increases the performance or speed at which you computer works.

One way to do this is to increase the paging file on your computer. This can be done by typing in the words, paging file or virtual memory, in the search section of the help and support feature. Otherwise you can click on computer and then click on properties which will guide you to the paging file option.

This works on almost all operating systems. Another task you can implement in order to increase local memory is by purchasing Ram cards or memory cards to enhance performance. These are slotted into the Central processing unit and make a huge difference on the performance at which your computer operates.

It is little fixes such as these that make using your system that more fun. They can become cumbersome and frustrating with time when overloaded with unnecessary files. Disk clean up is another that is used frequently and rids you of unwanted memory such as files that have made their way to the recycle bin. You can clean up your recycle bin by simply clicking on its icon usually located on the desktop.

IT support is about caring for your operating system. If you run into anything that is too technical to do it is best practice to call in the experts to complete a task for you or to troubleshoot your system. This can also be done via remote access whereby you allow another person to access your computer via the Internet. This can save a lot of time and hassle and is a good facility to have especially if you are prone to running into trouble quite a lot. Within minutes somebody that you have granted permission to can access and take control of your computer whilst you watch from your end the work being done.
