Find Out how to Replace Your Printer's Ink Cartridge

By Jim Oneal

Stuck at printing something? Is your printer already out of ink? Rather than having somebody else to replace your printer's ink cartridge for you, why don't you do it yourself? It is a fairly easy task to do. Here are steps on the way to replace your printer's ink cartridge.

Before you actually do the task of replacing the ink cartridge, ensure that there is a requirement for you to replace your ink cartridge. Identify which cartridge you want to replace. One sure way of doing this is by checking the particular ink level of your cartridge. That can be done by checking the ink cartridges. Do not be fooled by your computer screen's ink level warnings. Once you have checked your printer's ink level, start the task of changing your ink cartridge by opening the part of your printer where the cartridge is situated. For most printers it's typically on the right side of the printer. After opening it the carriage will move itself to the right piece of the printer so it's not very hard to find it.

If you already know the positioning of the cartridge, you may then turn your printer off. Take away the old cartridge by pressing it down from the carriage. There are more printer models where you'll find levers to release the cartridge from the carriage; all you have to do is to find that lever. You are now prepared to replace the cartridge with a newer one. Before placing your new cartridge, ensure that the protecting sticker is already removed, and do not touch the cartridge's insertion slot.

Place the cartridge in place with the label facing up inside the carriage. Make sure you hear a clicking sound to make sure that it is properly placed. For those printers that have levers, push the lever to hold the cartridge in place. If you need to replace more than one cartridge, slipped them into place one at a time.

After placing the cartridge in the carriage, place the printer's cover back in place and turn the printer on.

Check if you have successfully replaced your cartridge by having a look at the LCD, if it sends a message that there's no cartridge, then that suggests you have to repeat the method until you printer will recognize the new cartridge. After you have successfully replaced your old ink cartridge with another one, you're now prepared to print. Try to print some pages to test the standard of the new ink cartridge.

Changing your printer's ink cartridges isn't a difficult move to make, it something you can do on your own.

All you have to do is to begin to know your printer so you would be comfy in placing and replacing its various parts.
