The LG P500 Android - Our Review Of This Up And Coming Phone

By Walter Cary

When folks think of a smart phone, the last manufacturer they think of is LG; nevertheless, LG is slowly becoming a competitor. Makers like Motorola and HTC became successful, thanks to Google's mobile operating system and LG's take on things is represented by the Optimus line. Virtually all Android phones come with a lot of high end specs, but the LG's version does not. Still, that has not stopped the phone from attracting a lot of attention from the press. LG's version while being somewhat stripped down, also makes it more low-priced, which is ideal for folks that want an Android phone but can't afford to spend a small fortune on a phone.

Advantages

For the comprehensive LG Optimus One Review. A fantastic feature is the fact that this phone still looks like an Android phone, while a few features are lacking the look remains the same. The 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display is surely not the largest but that makes the LG Optimus One P500 Android handset more portable than its larger Android peers. The phone and severala lot of the applications are actually faster because of the multi touch feature. Not a lot of phones in this price range have multi touch functions. The 320 by 480 resolution is great for average DVD quality movies to be played back and luckily DivX and XivD support is extended out of the box. The 170 MB of internal memory may appear like a restriction but the phone has a microSD card slot that supports up to 32 GB of RAM. Of course, you will not have to go right out and purchase the 32 GB card as the phone comes with a 2 GB card included. Along with the 3.5mm standard audio jack, you can already build up a nice mp3 collection without spending more.

And a smart phone won't be a smart phone if it doesn't come with the standard Bluetooth and WIFI capabilities, and obviously LG has put these features to its newest smart phone. Also, the integrated GPS is a feature of this Android phone from LG that lots of users love. Navigating through the user interface is quite user-friendly in both portrait and landscape modes, thanks to the on-screen QWERTY keyboard and the accelerometer allows these two views to be changed without any hassle. And if all those features were not sufficient, this LG Android phone also features the 3G compatible network. One thing that a lot of Androids won't have is the quality of the speaker; nevertheless, that is not an issue with the LG Optimus One P500 Android handset.

Disadvantages

Again, this phone is more affordable than most other smart phones with Android technology which of course means that had to cut back a little here and there. While the camera has auto focus, face detection and geotagging, nevertheless this LG smart phone only works with 3 mega pixels. While Adobe flash will not work with the LG Optimus One P500 Android handset, the social networking still remains a high quality as a result of the connection. Last, the slow 600 MHz processor may make editing documents a bit sluggish but luckily the rest of the interface operates fine.

Judgment

If you haven't bought a smart phone yet and would like to, this LG smart phone is great for anyone looking to make the switch. The LG Optimus One P500 Android handset is also a good learning phone. You will be able to learn about all the features the Android phones have and will be able to discover if later on you may need a pricier phone with additional features in the future. But then, you may decide that this phone itself is suitable for all your needs.
