Boosting Your PC: Everything You Should Know

By Elizabeth Newman

When your laptop begins to become slow what do you do? Do you try and find ways to make it faster, or should you assume that it's outdated and think about purchasing a fresh one? There's no need to be throwing your hard earned dollars away. By using these pointers you can make your laptop run faster without having to splash your cash.

One mistake that many are guilty of is to keep all your information in one location, in other words, on one computer. There's absolutely no need for this. By using an external storage device you can still have instantaneous access to all you need, but without putting such a huge stress on your laptop. Using this method you will also ensure that you have a backup for your own data.

The next tip is to regularly assess the programs that you have got on your personal computer, and remove any that you don't need. They will only take up space that can be well used to keep your laptop running fast. However, you cannot just delete the program, you will have to uninstall it correctly and remove any linked files.

Do you have more than one antivirus? If you do, you may find that your computer is running slowly. Find one antivirus and stick with it, having multiple programs running in the background continually will make your machine clunky and slow. You do not need more than one antivirus, choose one that actually works and stick with it. If you happen to read this, and you choose to uninstall an antivirus, make sure you get it done properly. There are many free online softwares that will help you uninstall your antivirus and ensure that there aren't any ghost files left in your system.

Updates can be a tricky thing; make certain that your personal computer system is up to date; this will ensure that your laptop runs smoother. Every system has an official way to inform you that there are official updates that are required for your computer. But beware of updating programs that you have stopped using; they will just take more space in your system and make everything slower. Update only what's necessary, if you're getting update notifications from programs that you have not utilized in years, they're probably not doing any good to your system.
