5 Harsh Realities Of

By Michael Imam

Cell phones play a big part in people's lives and these days, almost everyone has one. That's why big cell phone companies are continuously trying to improve and release new models. Although, consumers end up buying cell phones that are locked which means that they can't access their phone's special features.

Unlocking your cell phone is especially useful for those who are constantly traveling abroad because then you will be able to make calls overseas. Besides that, it is also important to unlock your cell phone so that you can use Subscriber Identity Modules of different networks without having to change phones. When your cell phone is unlocked, you are able to change SIMs no matter where you are, unlike when it is locked and you are limited to just one SIM.

Most users may not know this, but the reason for cell phone service providers locking cell phones is so that they can charge you more for when you use your line out of their network or in other words, when you are roaming. But first thing's first, you may be asking yourself if it is even possible to unlock your phone and the answer is yes, because all GSM phones can be unlocked. However, this lock is breakable using a special code or by feeding your cell phone unlocking data through the use of a terminal. This type of software containing unlocking data that will break the code of your phone, also rewrites your entire operating system.

A code made by your respective service provider who was in charge of locking your cell phone, based on your phone's serial number, is usually the code you key in so that you can unlock it. For a lot of cell phone models, it is not so expensive to get these codes from your current service provider by calling them up and then all you need to do is key them in your cell phone to unlock it. Some service providers will tell you that it may take a couple of days before you can use a different SIM card or access your phone's special features. Although, if you are subscribed to a postpaid plan, it may take some time before you are eligible to have your cell phone unlocked because some service providers have a requirement that you should be using your plan for a minimum of 12 months.

Although if they do not want to give you the code, then you can try a few things and hopefully be able to successfully unlock it without the password. You can visit mobile forums online to try to find your phone's code and at the same time, there will be other users there you may be able to help you. If you don't have the time to scan through the different forums, then you can visit a good phone company that provides phone unlocking services instead at an affordable price.
