What The Future Holds For Phone Surveys In Today

By Mike Toth

With so many households now having cell phones, many are deciding to cut the cord to the land line service. This has left companies that once gathered information from phone surveys wondering where that leaves them. Many are wondering if these questionnaires will be of any use to them in the future.

With the do not call list gaining momentum, those who do still have their land lines have signed up for this service. This means organizations are not allowed to make phone surveys to telephone numbers unless they have done business with the person. This does help to keep the number of incoming calls down to a minimum.

The list does seem to have changed the way a person handles these calls. In the past, those who received the calls felt obliged to answer the questions that were asked of them. Today, many questionnaire takers, find that the people they call decline to answer any questions. This keeps the solicitor from obtaining the information they want.

In years past, a system that would randomly combine numbers and create valid telephone numbers to call was used. Those who compiled these questionnaires felt they provided insight to the customers. However, with homes no longer having a land line, this practice does not offer much help.

With the technology of today, many companies are opting to offer their questionnaires online. Most often, if given a choice, people will choose to fill out a questionnaire online versus a paper form. This is probably due to them being able to be completed at the convenience of the respondent.

There may be signs that phone surveys are on the decline. This does not necessarily mean that this form of information method is obsolete. However, companies may find it necessary to make changes to the presentation of these questionnaires to make them more effective.
