The Role Of An ASP Developer

By Clare Westwood

Becoming An ASP Developer

Active Server Page (ASP) is a server side script engine that is powered by Microsoft. Usually it is used by programmers who develop websites that are created dynamically. The majority of ASP pages are coded in the same developing program . ASP has now been replaced by ASP.net but there is still a demand for ASP only developers due to older sites being built in the program.

ASP was first developed in the late Nineteen Nineties, It is a web application which allows the web application to be put on the web server. The difference with ASP is that it has q much better performance than the other applications that were on the market.

Developers that use classic ASP Software tend to be working on very large pre-existing sites as part of a wider team. Usually there are six basic built in applications, asperror, application, server, response, session and request. You will be working as part of a team alongside a database administrator, designer and project manager. Programmers often work around forty hours a week but at times where a deadline is imminent they often work many more hours.

Usually ASP developers are very advances in Hyper Text, JavaScript, Markup language, Cascading style sheets and structures query language. Broadening your knowledge on as many different programmes as possible will benefit you greatly.

In order to improve and progress ASP developers should expand your knowledge of programming tools and techniques. Developing your c# knowledge is also a good idea. The more programmes and styles you can master the better.

ASP developers are always required due to the large amount of sites now built in this format. The salary for ASP developers is usually highly competitive and is set to grow as more and more people decide to move on to ASP.net.
