You are Most Likely Smarter Than the Programmer

By Brian Zeng

Ever been introduced to a new type of software, perhaps in your industry or for your business, and you're expected to use this software to help with your output? And when you probably did use the software did you ever get irritated, swear to yourself, and claim that the software wasn't good enough? Did you know why this is? I do , and I would like to explain it to you if I might.

You see, if you're a pro in your field, and very good at what you do, then you know your industry, or area of enterprise better than anyone else. And you certainly know it better than the programmer who designed the programme which forces your motion, action, and activities into small boxes where you're expected to be putting the info. Apparently, in this example the programmer of that software thinks you are stupid, and they must think they are awfully perceptive, as they designed the software that forces you into a box.

Look, we have computer information entry folks for stuff like that, we shouldn't force the top 20% in any industry, and definitely not the top 5% or maybe the top 1% into using such software, and then pretend to inform them we are helping them with their productivity. We're not, and we ought to face that fact, we are not fooling anyone here. There are way too many people who are computer software programmers who believe they know absolutely everything, and think they are clever enough to consider each potential eventuality. And even though they were, the software would be too complicated to use, too tough to learn, and it might be too full of bugs to operate properly.

In reality isn't that the same problem with our laws and society where we have lawyers, bureaucrats, and regulators dreaming up laws, rules, and rules all of the while they claim they are helping the industry, but in fact they put so much waste, barriers, and hardships in front of us all they do is slow down the productiveness to a snail's pace. Then when nothing gets done, they don't want to admit that they are the ones that caused the difficulty. And when too many folk start moaning, then they begin to fix things, making things more complicated, and the comedy of errors ensues.

If you are really good at what you do, you are most likely smarter than the programmer, no not at computer science or writing code, but you are smarter than they are regarding your industry, your own productiveness, and how best and most efficiently to do what it is that you do. In fact , if they were as good as you at what you do, they wouldn't be a programmer would they, they'd be doing what you're doing. Indeed I hope you'll please consider all this and think on it.
