This Item Is Worthless - Microsoft Business Software Critique

By Abigail Rogers

For example I have not yet found a way to chart income and expense on a monthly basis on the same chart without having it double count transfers between accounts. Second, today, Quicken popped-up an advertisement for a credit card before opening the software.

Felt as if they held my updates for ransom. Other than that it is a good tool for keeping up with your business.

Totally waste time and money. It worked for a couple of weeks and then all information of my accounts got stuck to one date. I am still using Microsoft Money because I just can't justify switching to Quicken until they can sync with Bank of America and ING without any issues. These are the two main banks I use and it's ridiculous that they can't make this work - it's not like they are obscure banks. I'll gladly pay a bit more for something that WORKS! I'm flabbergasted by how hard this product is to use. I have been using Microsoft Money 2007 since, well, the end of 2006/beginning of 2007. The Money software was always reliable if not a little clunky. I am still receiving OL-221-a errors when trying to manually download like I always have since 2001. There is actually no way to directly contact Intuit by phone anymore.

Quicken offered to upgrade my Money file so I let it. Amazon is absolutely my pick to buy anything. Love the selection and prices. Before considering buying this product I checked Quickens support options. Incredibly, this version doesn't even show up on their support page! To my surprise, and delight, Quicken did a splendid job loading all my accounts (and I have many of them: 8 credit cards from various Banks, 3 bank accounts, 8 investment and retirement accounts). In most cases, Quicken was able to set the online banking connections to my financial institutions.

I had some trouble with the update it wanted to do.

This evening, though, I've run into bug, after bug, after bug. This software is horrible. Every transaction updates and enters itself into my accounts with one easy click and a password. I haven't manually entered a credit card transaction in weeks! Having paid good money for this software, I'm steamed that they now subject me to ads as well. I don't mind the free-if-you-view-our-ads software business model in general, but do find it offensive if the software cost plenty of money.
