Superior Quality Product At An Excellent Price - Small Business Finance Software Critique

If you're using Quicken now, in my experience the incrementally added features never represent anything earth shattering, they're just tweaks. However back in 2007 their marketing team decided to increase revenue by disabling the account download feature of all Quicken products three years old, and older. I used to be able to upgrade with a reasonable discount after providing proof of purchase of a previous version. Now, they may give 10 % if you make the effort to push it. I've been putting up with it hoping for a future fix. Well, last week I downloaded my transactions and all of a sudden my account balance all the way back to 2009 was negative! A note on upgrading from previous versions: Make sure you have the current backup file where you can find it. The disc walks you through uninstalling the old version, converting your old data to the new version standard, and ultimately installing the 2011 version.

Now as more and more banks add multiple layers of security by asking secret questions, clicking on an image or clicking on PIN# at their website this feature is becoming practically useless. Now I have to go to each account's website and then download transactions (I have 23 accounts and one step update now works for only 9 of them). Most disappointing are the functions that have been removed (or if still there I can't find them). In the end I resorted to drastic measures - for the first time ever I actually decided it was worth my time to delete the 2011 version and reinstall 2008 and reenter a month's worth of transactions! No ownership or any issues, even when the application's error message clearly states NOT to contact your financial institution as it's not their problem. Of course, guess what their support does, Blames your bank. I owned Q2008, Q2005 & Q2002 and I used them daily. During that decade, I observed no significant product improvements, just a huge increase in software bugs. In other words, you should really know what you're getting into with this app. Most people would assume they could just call them up and have small problems fixed quickly and efficiently. Support is non-existent. Do not bother calling because you will be routed to India where a non-native English speaker will read off a laundry list script of what to do for general problems which will likely not correlate at all with the issue you may be having. Double check the data and correct mistakes. This purchase for Quicken Home and Business was one of the best choices I made.

I consistently get CC-501 errors. Right now they are offering Quicken Home and Business at a 35% discount and if you are thinking about purchasing it you might want to read all the reviews.

This was recommended by my CPA. Good price and quick shipping equals a solid deal.

I will probably change software soon. As someone who typically works about 60 hours/ week I don't have 30 minutes to waste on quirky software. There are some added benefits to this new program. I am very happy with this program.
